PANOS Down below
Chaka, the most magnificent place I have ever been to, is a salt lake located in Qinghai, China. Standing on the Edge of the lake and looking down, little salt crystals reflect the setting sunlight; the little crystal blinks at you like many bright stars in a deep, dark night. Tilt your head slightly, the waves stirred by the breezes are as delicate as tiny glass fractures floating on the Chaka Salt Lake. Tilt your head just a little more and look farther; continuous mountains settle on the edge of your vision. During the sunset, they are the darkest and greatest substance in your vision, like a giant wall. Tilt your head even more for the last time. The purple and orange sky covers the ceiling of Chaka, and the clear water reflects the sky, making it impossible to distinguish between the sky and the lake.
Chaka is also the most poignant and desolate place I have ever been to. No creatures can ever exist here. The Osmotic Pressure of salt is fatal to any creature that dares to challenge it. Standing there, you will see no tree, not even a piece of grass or a bug. Chaka is destined to be a beautiful but fatal place, just like a rose with spikes.
